Scottish Variable Rate
November 19, 2010
Here are two interesting discussions we found about the removal of the Scottish Variable Rate (SVR), which allows the Scottish government to vary the tax rate north of the border by 3 pence in the pound.
Firstly, on Better Nation they’re pretty critical of the SNP for allowing powers to go back to Westminster. This obviously caused a lot of discussion and they posted an interesting update today.
On Devolution Matters, Alan Trench seems unconvinced about the usefulness of the SVR in the first place and absolves the SNP of having much blame in this matter.
