Welsh Referendum is “daft”
Former Labour Minister Kim Howells has called the upcoming referendum on more powers for the Welsh Assembly “partial and daft“.
The reasons for this are that Howells, who was MP for Pontypridd between 1989 and 2010, believes it would result in the Welsh Assembly asking for ever more powers.
His worries stem from the fact that devolution has added given Wales more government than it needs.
In an upcoming documentary, Howells says that he now feels “ambiguous and confused” about devolution in Wales, and that he will probably vote No in the referendum.
He went on to call the referendum a “gesture” towards devolution for the nationalists.
The documentary, Kim Howells: A Valleys View of the World will be on the BBC tomorrow evening.
